Save Baydon Lion - update May 2017

I would like to start by saying thank you for your continued support and for registering your interest in becoming a co-owner in the Red Lion Community pub.

As some of you may be aware, the listing of the Red Lion as an asset of community value by Wiltshire County Council (WCC) means that the owner, Mrs Wyatt, cannot dispose of the pub without doing the following :

·  letting WCC know that she intends to sell

·  waiting until the end of a six week interim moratorium period to allow a community interest group to put itself forward as a potential bidder

·  waiting until the end of a six month full moratorium period if a community interest group does request to be treated as a potential bidder (within the first six weeks)

On 9th April the Save Baydon Lion Team was advised that Mrs Wyatt had notified the local authority of her intention to dispose of the Red Lion and, as a consequence, the six week interim moratorium period had been triggered. We wasted no time in submitting our letter to WCC applying to be formally considered as a potential bidder and are pleased to say that the County Council has confirmed that we meet the definition of a community interest group and the full six month moratorium has now started.

So what does this all mean ....?

Simply put we have a deadline (7th October 2017) by which to put together a bid to purchase the Red Lion. Now, more than ever, we need your requests for shares and your pledges. In order to start the process of submitting our bid to purchase the pub we need to have the money in the bank by 1st July 2017, otherwise we will be unable to proceed.

We can assure you that all information relating to requests for shares or investment pledges will be treated in the strictest confidence, and that, in the event our bid to purchase the Red Lion is unsuccessful, your money will be returned to you in full.

For those of you who are ready to submit your request for shares, I’ve attached an application form. The form can also be found on the home page of our website www.savebaydonlion.uk

If you would like to buy your shares via bank transfer, before returning the application form tick the box to indicate you have used this payment method. Please use your surname as the reference when making a transfer to ensure that your shares are allocated to you.

Alternatively, if you would like to make a pledge of the amount you may be willing to invest, subject to the business plan, then please email info@savebaydonlion.uk

Please don't delay.

Help make the Baydon Lion Roar Again!
